READING TEACHING APPROACH THROUGH PHONETIC SYMBOLS FOR NON ENGLISH LANGUAGE STUDENTS

Abstract


ABSTRACT Research on the Reading Text Teaching model for students of English Language Education has been widely carried out in various universities, and one of them is Reading Teaching through Voice of America (VOA) Links. However, teaching Reading Text through Phonetic symbols is still very minimal and almost non-existent, especially for non-English students. Based on the problems above, "The Approach of Teaching Reading Text Through Phonetic Symbols for Non-English Students" is very worthy of discussion. This study aims to apply a Reading Text teaching approach through Phonetic Symbols for students of PG-PAUD STKIP An-Nur. This study took a sample of twenty students of PG-PAUD STKIP An-Nur. The research stages started with Preliminary Research to see and accommodate the problems experienced by the students in reading the text in English. The next stage is designing a teaching approach by collecting a number of texts needed by PG-PAUD students. The results showed that the ability of students who are not from the English education study program to master reading texts through Phonetic Symbols increased significantly from 53% to 97%.
